Scholarship Description

The establishment of a healthy, sustainable environment is critical for female scientists, techies, engineers, & mathematicians to thrive in spaces not originally meant for them. The #IAm Project aspires to build a mentoring network for self-identifying women of color pursuing a collegiate education in STEM. This scholarship is a $1,000 one-time, non-renewable award. The 2019 recipient will be announced at Westwood High School’s award ceremony on May 16, 2019. Proof of college acceptance is required to receive the monetary award.


The #IAm Project Scholarship is a non-renewable, one year scholarship of $1,000. The Award will be presented at the Westwood Awards Ceremony on May 16, 2019. The awardee will receive the scholarship monies in August 2019, after university enrollment has been confirmed. 

  • This application is open to DACA students


  • Must graduate in May of 2019 from Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona
  • Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college/university in the U.S. during the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Plan on pursuing a collegiate degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics), including but not limited to: computer science, chemistry, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, biology, etc

Submissions can be emailed to ww.iamproject@gmail.com by 11:59 PM Sunday, March 31st
OR dropped off in the Westwood Compass Center by 3:00 PM Friday, March 29th.

  Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.  
  • Completed application form (See Below to Download)
  • Unofficial high school transcript (including Fall 2018 grades)
  • One-page résumé highlighting any community service you have done, with detailed descriptions of work and/or projects completed
  • One letter of recommendation from a Westwood teacher who can speak to your potential for future academic success

    * Recommenders may give the letter to the student to be included in the application packet or emailed directly to ww.iamproject@gmail.com
