Scholarship Description

The establishment of a healthy, sustainable environment is critical for female scientists, techies, engineers, & mathematicians to thrive in spaces not originally meant for them. The #IAm Project aspires to build a mentoring network for self-identifying women of color pursuing a collegiate education in STEM. This scholarship is a $1,000 one-time, non-renewable award. The 2023 recipient will be announced at Westwood High School’s award ceremony in May 2023. Proof of college acceptance is required to receive the monetary award.

Award

The #IAm Project Scholarship is a non-renewable, one year scholarship of $1,000. The Award will be presented at the Westwood Awards Ceremony in May 2023. The awardee will receive the scholarship monies in August 2023, after university enrollment has been confirmed.

  • This application is open to DACA students

Eligibility

  • Must graduate in May of 2023 from Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona
  • Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college/university in the U.S. during the 2023-2024 academic year
  • Plan on pursuing a collegiate degree in STEM (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics), including but not limited to: computer science, chemistry, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, biology, etc

Application Requirements

Submissions must be completed by 11:59 PM on Friday, March 31st, 2023. If you need a physical copy of the application, please email us.

Incomplete or late applications will not be considered

  • Submit the Google Form questionnaire and essay responses (see button below)
  • E-mail the following documents to wwiamproject@gmail.com
  • Unofficial high school transcript (including Fall 2022 grades)
  • One-page résumé highlighting any community service you have done, with detailed descriptions of work and/or projects completed
  • One letter of recommendation from a Westwood teacher who can speak to your potential for future academic success

    * Recommenders may share the letter with the student or email it directly to wwiamproject@gmail.com
